Shadowing A Doctor: A Unique Experience

Recently, I had the opportunity to observe a physician in action at a hospital. When I first walked into the building, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was imagining that it would be kind of like what you see in movies, with doctors in white coats running around everywhere, treating and speaking to patients, and interacting with other doctors and nurses. But in reality, it was much different. That day, I learned that being a doctor is more than just being able to treat and diagnose patients, and being able to understand different medical conditions. A doctor has to be able to speak kindly to patients, no matter how stubborn or insistent they may be. A doctor must be able to put themselves in the shoes of their patients, be able to listen and understand the patient, and should be able to make the patient feel safe and comfortable. It was a great learning experience, and it taught me a lot about practicing medicine and what doctors do on a day-to-day basis. I think it was interesting to see how the medical process works in real-life situations, and the whole experience was unique and eye-opening. I would definitely recommend shadowing a doctor, and if you are old enough, volunteering at a hospital as well, especially if you are interested in possibly following the medical line in the future. My sincere thanks to the doctor who gave me the opportunity to shadow at the hospital.
