The Forest

It was a bright, sunny day. The sun was high in the air, and I couldn’t wait to go outside. As I sat through my English class, listening to my teacher talk about Shakespeare, all I could think about was going outside. Just then, I noticed something glinting out of the corner of my eye, and I snapped back to attention. I looked out the window, and saw something that looked like a bug with two human-like legs. As I looked closely, I noticed that it was a fairy! I pinched myself hard, to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. The fairy flew into the woods behind the school. Those woods were forbidden to us, and it was said that the woods were haunted, but I didn’t believe that. I needed to see that fairy up close. I asked to go to the bathroom, walked out of the door, and slipped outside the school. I ran as fast as I could, not caring that I might get caught. I hesitated before entering the woods, but I did it. I was expecting the woods to be scary, but what I saw shocked me. Being in those woods was like a dream, and everything seemed so surreal. The forest was lush and beautiful; the trees were a beautiful green, and the creek in front of me had pure, clear water. The trees formed a large canopy above, only letting a hint of sunlight shine through, which provided a lovely shade. The sounds of nature echoed through the forest; the sounds of birds chirping, leaves rustling, and the sound of the water in the creek flowing gently. When I listened closely, it sounded like the trees were whispering. It seemed like there was magic in the air, and everything looked so perfect. Suddenly, I heard two voices. I hid behind a tree, and saw a young man and a young woman. From their conversation, I came to the conclusion that the man’s name was Lysander, and the woman’s name was Hermia. As I watched them fall asleep, I noticed that their dialogue was lines from one of Shakespeare’s plays. I whipped around, and saw that the school was gone! I was in the woods from A Midsummer Night’s Dream!
